Privacy Policy
How AdviceOnly collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit our website.
Effective Date: October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can manage your information. Please note that this privacy policy applies to all visitors to our public website. If you choose to enter into an engagement for services, a separate additional privacy policy will be provided to you with further details about data we collect and how we use it.
Why We Collect Data
We collect data for the sole purpose of providing the best service to our website users.
What Data We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use our website and engage with our content. You may explore our website without providing any personal information about yourself. If you choose to subscribe to a blog, download any of our content, apply for membership, or otherwise request information, you may be asked to enter information (such as your name and email address) so we can deliver your request(s).
How We Use Data
We use your information to:
- Provide services/products. Your information allows us to deliver requested services/products, such as free downloads and blog subscriptions, and it allows us to offer personalized content based on your interests.
- Maintain and improve services/products. User information helps us ensure that our services/products are being consumed as intended, and helps us understand areas where we can improve our services/products.
Managing Data
You can update your communication preferences or unsubscribe from our marketing communications by clicking the "unsubscribe" link located on the bottom of our emails. You may continue to receive transactional emails such as billing receipts when applicable.
Deleting Your Data
We believe that your data belongs to you. Therefore, you may delete your data whenever you choose. Simply reach out to us at compliance@adviceonly.com to request the removal of your information. It's important to note that as we prioritize the security and integrity of your data, it may take a short period of time for residual copies to be completely removed.
How We Share Data
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this website, such as Google Analytics, Cloudflare and our email newsletter provider. We have a variety of security technologies and measures in place to help protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
No mobile information, including phone numbers and consent, will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Website Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and which of our main call-to-action buttons they click. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information about your device and browser. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy.
On our calculator pages, we remove the numbers you enter from the page addresses sent to Google Analytics. Google Analytics records that you visited a calculator, not what you entered.
Calculators on Our Website
Our calculators remember the numbers you last entered so they are still there when you come back. Those numbers are saved only in your own browser, on your device, and are not sent to us. You can remove them at any time with "Forget my entries" in a calculator's "Save & share options" menu, or by clearing your browser's stored site data. Calculators that other websites embed from ours do not save anything.
AdviceOnly Calculators in AI Assistants
You can use some of our calculators inside AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude. When you ask the assistant a question one of our calculators answers, the assistant may send numbers from your conversation, such as an account balance or a fee, to our calculator server, which computes the result and sends it back.
What we keep. AdviceOnly does not store financial inputs entered into our calculators. Our calculator server uses the numbers it receives only to compute the result you asked for, keeps none of them once it has answered, and does not log requests. We count how often each calculator is used and from which assistant (for example, one use of a calculator from ChatGPT), so we know which calculators people find useful, and when a request fails, we record that a failure happened and what kind it was (for example, which calculator could not finish), so we can fix problems. Neither the counts nor the failure records include any of the numbers or text that were sent, and both are kept for three months.
Changes you make in the calculator. If you change the numbers in a calculator shown inside an assistant, the new result is computed on your own device and is not sent to AdviceOnly. The assistant is told the new result so it can discuss it with you.
The assistant's own policy. Your conversation, including anything you tell the assistant, is handled by the company that provides the assistant, under its own privacy policy. AdviceOnly does not receive your conversation, your name, or your account with that company. We receive only what the assistant sends us: the numbers a calculator needs and, when the assistant asks which calculator fits, your question as the assistant words it, which is used to choose a calculator and not kept.
Our hosting provider. Our calculator server runs on Cloudflare, which carries requests to it and from it.
Opening a calculation on our website. A calculator inside an assistant can give you a link that opens the same calculation on adviceonly.com. The numbers travel in the part of the link after the "#" sign, which your browser does not send to our website; our website reads them on your device. The link also says which assistant it came from, which our website analytics record.
Changes to This Policy
We may periodically update this Privacy Policy. You can reference this page for the most recent version of the policy.
Client Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy covers public website visitors and people who use our calculators in AI assistants. If you are an existing or prospective client of an AdviceOnly advisor's services, please also see the separate Client Privacy Policy which describes the data collected and how it is used in the context of a financial planning or investment advisory engagement.
