Get advice, not sales pitches

Fee-only, fiduciary advisors who never sell products or manage your money — so the only thing they offer is honest financial advice.

What "advice-only" actually means

Most financial "advice" comes packaged with something to sell. Ours doesn't. AdviceOnly advisors earn nothing from commissions, products, or managing your money — so their only job is giving you good advice.

What we don't do

  • No commissions
  • No product sales
  • No asset-management (AUM) fees
  • No referral kickbacks

What you get

  • Unbiased, conflict-free advice
  • You keep control of your own accounts
  • Clear, flat fees agreed up front
  • A fiduciary obligated to put you first

How an advice-only advisor helps

Some of life's biggest moments are also financial decisions — and the two are rarely separate. A good advisor helps you weigh both together, so your money supports the life you actually want.

Questions an advisor can help you answer

  • Am I saving enough for retirement — and invested the right way to get there?
  • I haven't reviewed my insurance in years. Do I have the right coverage, and am I overpaying?
  • Do I need a will, trust, or other estate documents — and are my beneficiaries current?
  • How should I handle equity compensation — RSUs, ISOs, or ESPP shares?
  • I came into a windfall — a bonus, inheritance, or business sale. What should I do with it?
  • What's the smartest way to balance paying down debt with saving for the future?
  • A big life change is coming — marriage, a child, a move, caring for a parent, or retirement. How does my plan change?
  • Should I refinance my student loans or pursue forgiveness (SAVE, PSLF, PAYE, ICR)?

Once you realize that every decision is a financial decision, planning becomes about your whole life — not just your portfolio. An advice-only advisor helps you see how the pieces fit together and make the call that's right for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is fee-only, advice-only financial planning?

Advice-only planning means you pay a financial advisor directly for their guidance — and nothing else. AdviceOnly advisors are fee-only: they earn no commissions, sell no financial products, and don't manage your investments for a percentage of your assets. You keep your money in your own accounts and pay a clear, agreed-upon fee for the advice you need.

How is AdviceOnly different from advisor-matching or lead-generation sites?

Many "find an advisor" sites are paid lead-generation services: outside advisors pay to be matched with you, and the site collects referral fees. AdviceOnly is different. Our advisors are investment adviser representatives of AdviceOnly's own SEC-registered firm — not outside firms paying for placement — and we don't sell your information as a lead or take referral fees for steering you toward a particular advisor.

Do AdviceOnly advisors sell products or manage my money?

No. AdviceOnly advisors don't sell insurance, annuities, or investment products, and they don't take custody of or manage your assets for an asset-based fee. They give you advice and recommendations; you decide what to implement, and your money stays in your own accounts.

How much does it cost to work with an advisor?

Each advisor sets their own fees and explains them clearly before you begin. Depending on the advisor, that may be an hourly rate, a flat project fee, or an ongoing planning fee — never a commission or a percentage of your investments. You'll find the relevant details on each advisor's profile.

Are AdviceOnly advisors fiduciaries?

Yes. AdviceOnly advisors act as fiduciaries, which means they are obligated to put your interests first. They are investment adviser representatives under AdviceOnly's SEC registration and hold professional credentials such as CFP® or EA.
